Kenny Dalglish vs Jorge Campos: Stats Compared

Forward / Playmaker, Scotland (born 1951, retired 1990) · Goalkeeper, Mexico (born 1966, retired 2004)

Comparing Kenny Dalglish with Jorge Campos means weighing two very different kinds of greatness. Reputations harden into legacies, and few careers cast longer shadows than these two. Across his senior career Kenny Dalglish notched 355 goals in 672 appearances (0.53 per game), while Jorge Campos recorded 40 in 686 (0.06 per game). Because assists were not systematically tracked for much of their time, that side of the comparison rests on the footage that survives. The honours ledger favours Kenny Dalglish with 9 major trophies (3× European Cup (1978, 1981, 1984)) against Jorge Campos's 8 (1× Mexican Primera División). History will file Kenny Dalglish under mercurial greatness and Jorge Campos under sweeper-keen greatness — different shelves, same temple. Club journeys add another layer, with Kenny Dalglish reaching his representative peak around 1983 across Celtic, Liverpool and Jorge Campos doing so around 1991 with Pumas UNAM, Atlante, Cruz Azul. Whichever side you land on, both belong in any conversation about the finest of their generation.

Jorge Campos Navarrete
#1·Goalkeeper

Jorge Campos Navarrete (born 15 October 1966) is a Mexican professional football coach and player who plays as a goalkeeper for Tercera Federación – Group 7 club México FC. A notable player of Mexico in the 1990s and early 2000s, Campos was an eccentric player, known for his constant play outside the penalty area – often functioning as a sweeper-keeper, as well as his acrobatic, risky, and flamboyant style of goalkeeping, and his colourful playing attire. His main strengths as a goalkeeper were his leaping ability, athleticism, and speed when rushing off his line, as well as his ability to organize his defense, which enabled him to overcome his short stature.

A fearless, undersized goalkeeper who compensated with spring, bravery and unusual footwork.
